Senior Accountant - Intercompany

The global accounting organization supports our financial reporting, internal control, intercompany, and transfer pricing activities and also supports new business launches globally for Amazon in the consumer products, digital initiatives, merchant, operations, logistics, payments, and cloud computing lines of business.
Job responsibilities will include but not limited to:

- Assist with the intercompany settlement process focusing on:
- Publish monthly settlement list and communicate deadlines to global accounting teams
- Coordinate with Accounting and Tax teams to obtain approvals for each settlement cycle under his/her responsibility
- Schedule and lead monthly stakeholder review meetings
- Research intercompany relationships and nature of balances
- Execute and track wire requests submitted to Treasury
- Create invoices to support restricted currency trades and work with Treasury team for any items requested by bank to support wire trades
- Initially responsible for transactions under $25MM with opportunity to scale
- Manage monthly processing of settlements through Virtual Trader (VT)
- Validate foreign exchange (FX) gain or loss for settlement transactions during month end close
- Publish monthly settlement list and communicate deadlines to global accounting teams
- Obtain approvals for urgent funding requests
- Prepare manual journal entries (MJEs) and/or review MJEs prepared by the FOAA team
- Publish monthly FX period end and period average rates
- Prepare FX intercompany deliverables on a monthly basis
- Assist with ad hoc projects, audit requests, and other intercompany items as required.
- Development of SOPs and/or training materials
Basic Qualifications
- Degree in accounting, finance or related field (CPA or CFA preferred)
- 5+ years of relevant experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Big 4 public accounting experience with Fortune 500 clients
- Experience working in a fast paced environment similar to a high tech start-up
- Experience working in Excel with large volume of data
- Solid organizational skills along with an aptitude for information technology
- Excellent analytical skills
- Self-starter that exhibits an appropriate sense of urgency to complete tasks
- Ability to document facts and circumstances in a concise, logical manner
- Detail oriented yet can step back to understand the bigger picture
- Desire to work with cross functional business partners globally
