Position Summary and Essential Duties

Provide leadership and initiative in the overall coordination of system requirements, program specifications and code/unit test to meet business Requirements/specifications for significant projects. Provide leadership and initiative to the development of deliverables for additional levels of testing and test execution including system level and integration tests. Lead and/or assist in resolution of complex production problems. Mentor development of those in less senior positions.

Job Specific Information

This position will work primarily on large scale enterprise level initiatives to:

- Identify and assess acceptance criteria on use cases affecting FedEx Freight software applications

- Contribute to team designs, specifications, and code reviews

- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence by identifying and implementing process improvements where appropriate

This position can be domiciled in any of the following

• Harrison, AR
• Colorado Springs, CO
• Lakeland, FL

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Considered a Plus

- Experience in Object Oriented Programming, Java/J2EE, HTML5, JMS, SQL, Oracle, Weblogic, Web Services

- Experience in API Management tools such as CA Layer 7

- Knowledge of development frameworks and tools such as Spring, Hibernate, JSF

- Knowledge of Agile software development, principles and methodology

- Ability to translate technical information into understandable terms targeting a variety of audiences

- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and function as a technical resource

- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and changing priorities

- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to find successful resolutions for moderate to complex issues

- Strong interest in keeping current with industry trends and emerging technologies

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree, in computer science, engineering, information systems or related field and/or equivalent formal training or work experience. Five (5) years qualifying work experience in information technology or engineering environment. A related advanced degree may offset the related experience requirements.
