Job Description:

Analytical Chemistry: Analytical chemist to accelerate our RNA and DNA synthesis projects including development of the 96 well RNA synthesizer and guide RNA scale-up, purification and analytics. 

What would make you a better candidate would be if they have more experience with LC-MS of large biomolecules than listed on their CV so please keep that in mind.

Key responsibilities: will include sample preparation, data acquisition, and data analysis of synthetic RNA and DNA oligonucleotides by LC-MS using  QTOF instruments and software.  The position is within the Research Laboratories, at corporate research laboratory, interacting with other researchers developing novel chemistries and instrumentation for nucleic acid synthesis. As part of this effort, you will have the opportunity to use your knowledge of organic chemistry to help identify unknown impurities and side products formed during the synthesis process.  You will be expected to help develop and optimize protocols, keep careful records and organize the data generated into clear and easy to read reports.  

Job/Required Qualifications:

1. Masters or PhD in analytical chemistry, organic chemistry, or biochemistry, including at least 1 year of hands-on LC-MS data acquisition and data analysis experience, or equivalent.

2. Experience with analysis of oligonucleotides or other large biological molecules.

3. Experience with LC-MS troubleshooting, maintenance and cleaning.

4. Experience with ion-pairing chromatography, buffer preparation, and sample preparation. 

5. Ability to work independently and comfortable with the design and troubleshooting of experiments. 

6. Excellent time management, teamwork and communication skills. 

7. Excel at detail-orientated laboratory work and record keeping. 

The following additional skills/experiences are highly desired:

1. Knowledge of organic chemistry and/or nucleic acid synthesis chemistry.

2. Experience with Agilent Mass Hunter software for data acquisition and analysis.
