Job Description:
Develop state-of-art optical transceiver products for both telecom and datacom applications. The candidate for this position will be working in a multidiscipline team and responsible for designing optical systems for new generation of transceiver products, prototyping and characterizing the design, defining manufacturing processes and supporting the production through the product lifetime.
Skills/Experience Requirements:
● Highly motivated at problem solving, excellent communication skills and teamwork oriented.
● Track record of optics design of the products that were successfully launched into the market.
● Experienced in lens and fiber optical coupling system design based on geometrical and physical optics. Familiar with Silicon photonics, CWDM, DWDM systems or subsystems design.
● Wide range of knowledge in optical fiber coupling techniques, including the use of microlens array and diffractive optics and injection molded plastics lenses.
● Experience in coherent optics and statistical optics.
● Hands-on experience in optics lab, semiconductor devices and other photonics components, and optical measurement instruments.
● Familiar with test equipment used in Telecommunication and data communication, such as, DCA, BERT, OSA, etc.
● Understanding of optical drawing standards and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
● Highly experienced with Zemax optical design software and proficient in Matlab, familiar with LabView, experience with other optics design tool will be a plus (such as BPM, FTTD tools, G-Solver, or VirtualLab).
Job Responsibilities:
● Applies optical engineering principles and concepts in the design, test and system integration of high performance optical system and sub-systems for high density and high speed optical transceivers.
● Collaborate with groups of different disciplinary within the division to define the design space and manufacturing tolerances.
● Perform optical system design and analysis using Zemax.
● Build and test prototype optical sub-systems/systems in optics lab, fully characterize the performances by taking various measurements from component level to link level, and write reports.
● Interact with mechanical, electrical, manufacturing and software engineers to design and build special fixtures and tools for the assembly, alignment, test, and manufacturing of advanced optical system.
Qualifications
● MSc in optics, Electrical Engineering or Engineering of Physics with emphasis in optics.
● Experienced in fiber optics, imaging optics, optical system design, optical testing, opto-electronics and Opto-mechanical designs.
● Thorough understanding of fundamentals of geometric and diffractive optics.
● Understanding of photonic components including multimode/singlemode fibers, semiconductor laser, detector, thin-film filters.
● Self-motivated with the capability to work independently and collaboratively to deliver innovative and manufacturable designs.
Desirable:
● Knowledge of component requirements for 25G,100G systems
● Familiarity with relevant industrial standards such as IEEE 802.3, Telcordia and TIA/IEC.
