About This Position:

Cloud database engineer candidates are sought to conduct leading-edge data management system research and development for a database management system in the cloud. The ideal candidates must enjoy tackling technical challenges when evaluating a complex distributed data processing system in the cloud.  The candidates should have significant knowledge and experience in database kernel components, such as query processing, transaction processing, and storage. Other important attributes are versatility and a passion for building high-quality enterprise-class software systems.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work with a team of architects and engineers to develop proof-of-concept systems and components for the data management system in the cloud
• Write and maintain detailed testing design and specifications
• Perform design and code reviews

Minimum Job Requirements:

• Strong engineering background, ideally experienced with cloud storage systems
• Solid foundation in distributed database systems concepts
• Deep understanding of storage, replication, indexing
• Experience in AWS Redshift or Microsoft Azure SQL data warehouse or other cloud data management system is highly desirable
• Expert knowledge developing and debugging in C/C++ on *nix, Java, Python
• Experience with database performance tuning a plus
• Experience with PostgreSQL kernel a plus
