As a Business Systems Analyst on the Digital and Mobile team, you will support key initiatives that enable members and customers to explore the outdoors. Digital teams are working on strategic efforts to drive the co-op forward in big ways! This role will partner closely across the enterprise. As a Business Analyst, you will ensure business needs and benefits are realized in technology solutions that support business strategy.
This role serves as a liaison between the business and Information Technology to ensure business needs and requirements are understood, valued, prioritized and communicated for the most complex, cross divisional programs. Our Business Analysts contribute to and follow the REI Business Analyst Community of Practice and IT Program Management Office methods and practices. This position contributes to REI’s success by providing services that will govern, evolve and deliver rich information assets enabling business stakeholders to make informed, data driven decisions. The Business Analyst role serves as a key liaison and collaborator with cross-divisional subject matter experts and knowledge workers to sense and interpret business need and effectively translate it into clear and concise use cases and requirements. This role also works in close alignment with projects and development teams to ensure requirements are understood and prioritized to drive data, analytics, reporting, and infrastructure development.
Requirements Management: Executes the business requirements process for projects and enhancements by facilitating, eliciting, gathering, documenting, validating, prioritizing and establishing baseline business requirements. Ensures testability / traceability of requirements. Expresses business requirements using multiple techniques. Documents requirements in accordance with REI methodologies. Manages changes to the requirements baseline. Guides and motivates end-to-end execution of development processes, from intake to execution, testing & deployment. Participates in peer reviews of requirements deliverables.
Systems & Data knowledge: Subject matter expert in business functionality, interfaces, data flows, data schemas, and functional architecture of BI systems & capabilities. Is expert in applying technology to solve data problems, and has an in-depth understanding of how data & technologies support strategy and operations. Able to troubleshoot system & capability problems from a functionality and data perspective, especially when supporting issues and end-user testing and training.
Work Coordination & Execution: Acts as the voice of the customer to and as the representative of the team to the organization through the management of critical business relationships. Integral participant in solution development, end-user testing, and deployment with BI developers and project managers. Confirms that results meet stated business requirements and are aligned with company strategy. Proactively keeps cross-divisional stakeholders, product management partners up to date on work status and project progress by providing regular updates on delivery timelines for work in progress and state & priority of current backlog items.
Process: Documents and analyzes existing or ‘as-is’ business processes, capturing data inputs and outputs originating from or traversing the BI ecosystem. Designs new or ‘to-be’ business processes. Maps “as is” and “to be” business processes, understands data gaps, and develops transition plans and requirements.

Bring your passion and expertise
- 2-3 years of related work experience
- Previous experience and knowledge support of Ecommerce/Digital platforms and projects
- Demonstrated knowledge of both business and systems processes
- Demonstrated ability to identify and prioritize business needs
- Demonstrated ability to collect, express and manage requirements (use cases, data modeling, process modeling, context diagrams, systems diagrams, etc.)
- Demonstrated knowledge of financial and business value analysis
- Demonstrated ability to manage and resolve conflict
- Demonstrated ability to understand and explain issues from both a technical and a business functional point of view
- Ability to conceptualize and recommend solutions to business problems
