DESCRIPTION
You have super powers. Use them
for good. We protect customers of the Amazon marketplace from poor buying
experiences. We catch bad guys and stop online fraud. We do all this while
imposing minimal to no friction on good sellers. It’s fun. It’s hard. It matters.
We need you.
It’s fun. We stop poor buying experiences and crimes before they happen.
Remember the "Minority Report"? It’s just like that. Basically, we
predict the future by developing and applying cutting-edge machine learning
algorithms to detect, predict, and prevent bad outcomes before they happen. We
operate across the entire lifecycle of marketplace sellers. Our problem space
offers potential to work on the gamut of machine learning problems, supervised
and unsupervised, classification and regression with structured and
unstructured data.
It’s hard. Identifying bad actors and malicious behavior patterns is a classic
adversarial machine learning problem. Patterns of attacks are ever evolving.
Poor customer experience patterns and their impact need to be teased out and
studied from the mountains of structured and unstructured data. It is
insufficient to rely on modeling and analysis alone. There is no one right way
to do things. We need to consider the broader business context, and leverage
human intelligence-in-the-loop processes, software features and marketplace
policies as appropriate. We are limited only by our creativity.
It matters. Amazon is one of the world’s most trusted companies. Consider the
implications of losing that trust. Third-party sellers account for nearly half
the items purchased on Amazon. This nearly always goes smoothly; but when
buyers have a less than perfect experience, everyone loses. Buyers are less
likely to shop at Amazon in the future. Legitimate sellers lose potential sales
and are less likely to sell on Amazon. And of course, the money Amazon pays in
refunds and claims goes straight to our bottom line and ultimately results in
higher prices for all our customers.
If you have an entrepreneurial spirit, love to work with data, are deeply
technical, highly innovative and long for the opportunity to build solutions to
challenging problems that directly impact the company's bottom-line, we want to
talk to you.
